I am a 26 year old female living in Phoenix, Arizona. This blog is an honorarium to all of my passions- gadgets, travel, interior design. But mostly, it’s a roadmap to financially surviving all my interests – and providing a safety net for the future.
Where I started from:
- 1200 sq foot house I bought myself April 2005.
- One Car paid off free and clear.
- One SUV I still owe $16K on.
- $19K in retirement funds
- A 6% paycheck contribution to my 401(K)
- Life Insurance – $150K in Term Insurance
- $0 in student loans
- Credit Card Debt – umm…. about $16K worth. All at 2% or 0% APR.
Where I went….
- Lost my job twice… for a total of 4 1/2 months of unemployment.
- Increased my annual salary by 60% (I now make 160% of what I used to.)
- Credit cards got as high as $28,000.
- Sold the (paid off car) – brought credit cards down to $23,000
- Re-financed car… twice.
- Rented the house. Now living closer to work in (other) rented house with my boyfriend.
- $25,000 in Retirement Savings
- Credit cards now sit @ $18,100 and losing. (As of July, 2008)
